Gaming News Special - PSN Outage Day Three - 23/4/11

Hello again everybody and unforunatly welcome to the third day of the PSN Outage. Checking my Twitter feed this morning, it appears that Sony have given confirmation that the PSN outage was indeed caused by a external issue. Posting on the US and EU PlayStation Blogs, Patrick Seybold and James Gallagher respectively have given word that "an external intrusion on our system has affected our PlayStation Network and Qriocity services." They further go on to say that as a result of this Sony themselves turned off the server late on Wednesday evening, April 20th. The James Gallagher post can be found here.

I personally at this point have nothing against Sony for the decisions they have made and switching the service offline appears to be the best option. The only thing I do find questionable is that it has taken them three days to confirm that they themselves turned the servers off. If it was indeed them, why did Seybold and Gallagher state this in their first posts. Surely this would increase everybody's trust in Sony if it was common knowledge that they took the servers offline rather than the external intrusion.

Apart from that I am sorry to say that I have no other new information regarding this situation. I would recommend that if you have Facebook or Twitter that you regularly check the PlayStation feeds for updates. Apart from that I will be posting a round-up of the latest news here as always. So, until the next post, I've been randomthings and thank you for watching.
